This week's post may look familiar, and it will probably be next year’s post too. Why? It is what I want to say at Christmas time.
Christmas is a winter, up- north, snowy holiday. Snow. Ice. The wind blowing. Before moving to Florida, I remember one December when I was so cold that I thought my blood would freeze. It was a frigid twenty degrees - above not below. Let me share a Florida Christmas poem minus the bells.
Christmas cards. Christmas gifts.
Christmas wishes.
Christmas myths.
Winter Season. Winter Snow
It’s off,-off to the beach I go.
BUT...
What if we didn’t celebrate Christmas? Not just the grinches, but no one. What if this Holiday was gone? Week after week, the same old, same old. No parties, no gifts, no songs, no special food, no lights, a big fat zero in the celebration corner. Pretty drab. Wearing my jewel studded, glittery t-shirt that says, I DON'T DO DRAB, I will declare that the tinsel, the lights, and even the ridiculous reindeer, have my full support. I say bring on the glitz and celebrate!
Celebrate Life
Celebrate the Starry Night,
The Holy Night. The Emmanuel Night.
So Bright a Light.
The “I Once Was Blind But Now I See”, Light.
The Truth in me, my Hope of Glory, Light.
Come. Celebrate!
I’ll take a second helping.
Some of that and that and I will try a little of this and fill me up.
Fill me up to overflowing so my cup runs over the top and
Like a River flows.
Not from a tap but from a Spring.
Underground Well Water. Endless. Eternal. And more than enough.
All seasons. Every season. The Reason for the season.
L’Chaim- To Life!
Merry Christmas Y’All
